PAE's Battlesim games are for those players who want to experience something 'more' than just a skirmish. As such you should be prepared for something a little different than the average Sunday shootout. Make sure you read the extra Battlesim rules on the rules page (They're at the bottom). If you have any questions don't be afraid to ask.
Moldenia has undergone drastic changes in the past two years. Widespread high-level corruption, combined with an economic crash and a rush on the Moldenian Ruble caused massive socio-political upheaval. People began to demand change; occupying People’s square, The state broadcasting organisation and major infrastructure hubs.
President Nikhailov, a long-standing friend of Vladimir Putin, responded in the only way he really knew how: tanks, teargas and riot police. However, as the truism goes, one can make a throne of bayonets… The people held out, despite heavy casualties they remained encamped, waving the red, blue and green flags of their nation. Under such pressure, those around Nikhailov began to question his leadership and high level defections began, firstly the head of the capital’s police force, then members of the People’s Assembly, Military Officials and even members of the State’s secret security force.
Within three months of the first defection, Nikhailov’s position had become untenable. He fled the country on an unsanctioned military helicopter and disappeared. Rumours circulate as to his location or mortality, with reports of wreckage of the same type of craft being found a few miles from the Russian border.
All of this was watched with keen interest from the great powers of the world. Putin was incensed that once again, he had lost an ally in a key buffer state between Russia and her NATO rivals. NATO, on the other hand saw an opportunity to further expand its sphere of influence, adding yet another old Warsaw pact nation into its ranks.
The revolution was not well received in the East of the country. The eastern population regarded themselves as culturally Russian, Russian was the first language and they saw Russia as their friend and ally. The revolution threw all of this into disarry, people felt that the revolutionaries had betrayed their roots. In a mirror of events in the capital, protestors took control of local government buildings; waving Russians flags and, most worryingly for the new government, armed with brand new weapons.
The situation now is tense. The Moldenian Defence Forces have pulled back from the areas taken by separatist forces, now calling themselves the Moldenian Oathkeepers. The MDF has set up checkpoints and defences aimed at stemming the advance of what increasingly seems to be a full armed insurrection. Additionally, Mice News has reported sightings of soldiers wearing Russian equipment and wielding Russian weapons giving training to MO forces; NATO, unprepared to let Russia retake control of Moldenia has spoken of providing similar training to the MDF, although nothing has been confirmed yet.
The latest reports from MDF command show a group of armed protestors moving towards MDF checkpoints in the heavily wooded region of Hertlovka and there have been unconfirmed reports of heavier weapons being moved into position.
